I is an upcoming Indian Tamil romantic action thriller film, produced and distributed by Venu Ravichandran under his production banner, Aascar Films. The film was scripted and directed by Shankar and features Vikram and Amy Jackson leading an ensemble cast that includes Suresh Gopi , Upen Patel, Santhanam and Ramkumar Ganesan. The soundtrack album and background score was composed by A. R. Rahman. Art direction was handled by T. Muthuraj. P. C. Sreeram was the film's cinematographer and editing was done by Anthony. Weta Workshop worked on the digital and prosthetic make-up and background arts for the film. The dubbed Telugu version of the film, earlier titled Manoharudu, was also later titled I.

The film was made on a budget of INR1.85 billion (US$30 million), making it the costliest Indian film to date.Principal photography commenced on 15 July 2012. The filming lasted for two years and eight months, during which shooting was done extensively in China.Further schedules were filmed in exotic locations Chennai, Bangkok, Jodhpur, Kodaikanal, Pollachi, Bangalore and Mysore. The film is scheduled for a Diwali 2014 release.
